Changemaker Chats

In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Blown Fuse became immersed in the wonderful world of the Queens Theatre Hornchurch.
The Outer Limits cohort is a collection of creatives based in the South East and the Havering Borough of London in which the Queens supports us through advice, rehearsal and performance space, training, networking and more. We count ourselves very lucky to be involved, as this affords us the opportunity to share our experiences with other creatives that we might not have known of beforehand, and to seek advice and knowledge from artists operating in other fields.

We’ve met some amazing and inspiring people off the back of this, and, as a result, in April, we were kindly asked to participate in the Queens’ Young Changemakers podcast ‘Changemaker Chats’ as guests.
We were interviewed by Young Changemaker Rob Barnes and he picked our brains for well over and hour and a half, but (lucky for you) it’s been edited down to a more manageable 50 minutes.

In the podcast, we cover the origins of the company, how we became ‘Blown Fuse’, and the myriad of wonderful people whom we’ve met and inspired us on the way. We talk about our first inspiration Marc Mollica (sorry Marc!), our mentor Jemma McDonnell from the Paper Birds (whom were we matched up with through the Mercury Creatives programme), our friend and composer Lewis Olley, and how we make work with pound shop torches in a granny annex.
It was such a fun and exciting way to talk about our process and our influences and we can’t thank Rob enough for being such a kind and welcoming host. Who’d have thought we’d get so nervous talking about ourselves?!
